Official Registration

  • Go to your ID card appointment: Bring your passport, a copy of its photo page, a copy of your electronic stamp and a copy of your entry stamp. The card costs CLP 4,270 (Chilean pesos).
  • Tell your university your ID number: Some universities give you a temporary number until you have your RUN. When you get it, send it to the university. At Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), students without a RUN get a temporary number and send their RUT once they have it.

Social & Practical

  • Plan your bank account: Banks and phone plans ask for your RUN (Rol Único Nacional), your Chilean ID number. It is on your ID card and is also called the RUT. You can only plan these after you have the card.
