Often online.
Note: Most Czech programmes do not ask for a general skills test. Some do.

Each programme sets its own level. These are examples. B2 means a good, but not top, level of English (CEFR, the European language scale).

| Duolingo score | 105 (MU Social Studies only) | MU Social Studies accepts 105. CTU Electrical Engineering does not accept Duolingo. |
Important Considerations
Score Validity
Check the test provider’s score validity rules and your university’s requirements.
Possible Exemptions
You may be exempt from English proficiency requirements in certain cases:
- MU Social Studies does not accept proof that your earlier study was in English. Only citizens of a few English-speaking countries do not need a test. India and Pakistan are not among them.
Different academic disciplines often have specific requirements beyond the general eligibility criteria. These specialized requirements ensure you have the necessary background and aptitude for success in your chosen field in Czech Republic.
- Masaryk University (MU): written exam in chemistry, biology and physics.
- Arts and creative programmes may ask for a portfolio or talent exam.
Looking for Other Fields?
International students face several additional requirements beyond those for domestic applicants. These ensure that you can successfully transition to studying in Czech Republic and comply with immigration regulations.
Prove your Indian or Pakistani certificate counts as the Czech level.
- Nostrification, or a check of your diploma by the university department (faculty), which costs a fee.
You need these stamps on papers you show in the Czech Republic.
- India: get an apostille (an official stamp that proves a paper is real) on your Indian papers.
- Pakistan: Pakistan's foreign ministry stamps your papers (attestation), then the Czech embassy adds its own stamp (superlegalisation).
