Denmark University Application Deadlines 2027

Most English-taught master's programmes in Denmark close on 15 January 2027 for students from outside the European Union (EU) who want to start in September 2027. Bachelor's applications close on 15 March 2027 on Optagelse.dk (the national website for bachelor's applications).

How Deadlines Work in Denmark

Bachelor's programmes use one national website, Optagelse.dk. For a master's, you apply to each university, and each sets its own dates.

The Yearly Cycle

Master's portals open in November or December 2026.
Master's deadlines for students from outside the EU: 15 January 2027.
Bachelor's deadline: 15 March 2027, 12 noon.
Pay tuition by the university's date, often in April or May 2027.
Apply for your residence permit (the permit to live and study in Denmark) as soon as you are admitted.

Types of Application Deadlines

Optagelse.dk (coordinated admission)

Bachelor's

Up to 8 programmes ranked in order. You get at most one offer. Applicants with non-Danish school results apply by 15 March, 12 noon.

Direct to the university

Master's

Each university sets its dates. At UCPH and AAU you can rank up to 3 programmes and get one offer.

Scholarship deadlines

Scholarship

Aarhus University (AU) considers you for a tuition waiver or scholarship only if you apply by 15 January (September start). DTU gives tuition fee waivers only for the September start, with a separate statement sent by 15 January 2027.

Your Plan From India or Pakistan

October to December 2026

Take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) early. Results must reach the university by the deadline.
Get certified transcripts (stamped or signed as true copies) and translations ready.

By 15 January 2027

Submit your master's applications and pay each application fee.
Add the separate DTU statement if you want to ask for no tuition fee.

March to May 2027

Pay tuition by the university's date.
Apply for your residence permit right away.

Tip

Apply early. DTU strongly recommends it, especially if you need to send more documents.

Pay the residence permit fee of 3,060 Danish krone (DKK). Give your fingerprints and photo (biometrics) no later than 14 days after you send the form.
