Egypt Student Visa Requirements

Students from India hand in their papers at the Egypt Visa Application Centre run by BLS International (BLS). Students from Pakistan apply at the Embassy of Egypt in Islamabad. Here is what you need.

Who Can Get an Egypt Student Visa

You need a place at an Egyptian university, a valid passport and proof that you can pay for your stay.

Your personal bank statement for the last 6 months, signed and stamped by the bank.

Health Papers

Vaccine rules that may apply to you

Travellers from Pakistan need a polio certificate.

Travellers passing through a country on the WHO yellow fever list, such as Ethiopia, need yellow fever proof.

Babies under 9 months do not need yellow fever proof.

Citizens of India and Pakistan must do passport registration after they arrive. See the questions section.
Al-Azhar University students can renew their student residence permit through Al-Azhar's centre for international students.

White background.
Your face should cover a little more than half of the photo.

Without the right vaccine papers, you may have to stay apart from others (quarantine) for up to 6 days when you arrive.

Visa Types

Which Egypt Visa Do You Need?

You need a visa to enter Egypt. After you arrive, your university helps you change to a one-year student residence permit.

Entry visa from the embassy

The American University in Cairo (AUC) tells its students to get the visa from the Egyptian embassy in their own country and to say they are going to study.

Entry visa, then residence permit (a card for living in Egypt)

Duration:Single entry, valid for up to three months. In Egypt you then get a one-year student residence permit (the card that lets you live in Egypt while you study).

India: hand in your papers at a BLS centre in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai or Kolkata. Pakistan: apply at the Embassy of Egypt in Islamabad.

India: after you hand in your papers, the visa takes 3 to 5 working days. Pakistan: ask the Embassy of Egypt in Islamabad.

India: the fee at BLS is 8,000 Indian rupees (INR) for an entry visa you can use to enter Egypt once, plus a service fee of INR 500. Pakistan: ask the Embassy of Egypt in Islamabad.

Eligibility Requirements

An offer letter from an Egyptian university.
A passport valid for at least 6 months after the day you arrive in Egypt.
Your last 6 months of personal bank statements.

Restrictions

India: pay in cash only at BLS.
Change to a student residence permit after you arrive.

Choosing the Right Visa Type

There is no separate student visa at the BLS centre in India. Ask the embassy which visa to take, and tell them you are going to study. Pakistani citizens apply at the Embassy of Egypt in Islamabad.
