Documents for Spain University Applications
What Spanish universities ask for when you apply from India or Pakistan for 2027-28. Each university sets its own list, so follow your programme's instructions. Money is in euros (EUR).
Four groups of papers for 2027-28.
School papers (bachelor's)
Your last two years of school marks and the homologación of your diploma.
Degree papers (master's)
Your degree and marks. Your degree accepted by Spain, or a university access permit.
Stamps and translation
An apostille on foreign papers and a Spanish translation.
Visa papers
Admission letter, fee receipt, money proof and insurance.
Bachelor's and master's routes need different papers.
- UNEDasiss is a service of UNED, Spain's national distance university. It checks school papers from other countries for bachelor's entry.
- For India and Pakistan, it asks for proof of homologación of your school diploma, or proof you asked for it.
- Add your last two years of school marks with an apostille.
- Public universities also want you to take PCE subject exams. UNEDasiss advises at least 4 subjects.
- UCM asks students with a degree from outside Europe's shared university area (EHEA) to have it accepted by Spain, or to get a UCM access permit (form 080).
- With the permit route, you upload scans when you apply.
- UCM asks for the originals, translated and legalised, only if you are admitted.
Start Early
Each programme asks for its own extra papers.
- Example: the UCM master's in political analysis asks for a short motivation letter.
- Other programmes may not ask for one.
- Example: the same UCM master's takes up to two reference letters.
- Example: the same UCM master's asks you to attach a foreign language certificate if you have one.
Essays
- Some master's ask for a short motivation letter. Say why this programme fits your past study.
Recommendations
- Some master's take up to two reference letters. Check your programme.
Money papers matter most for your visa.
- At least EUR 600 a month in 2026. Spain sets this amount with the IPREM (a yearly income figure Spain uses to set money rules).
- Money for course fees is not counted in this amount.
- Signed sponsor letter. A sponsor is the person who pays for you.
- A copy of your sponsor's PAN card (India's tax ID card).
- 6 months of the sponsor's bank statements, stamped and signed by the bank.
