Scholarships to study in Ukraine

Ukraine's state scholarships are only for students from partner countries (countries with an education agreement with Ukraine). Check with your own country's education ministry whether it is one.

How scholarships work in Ukraine

Ukraine's state scholarships come from agreements between Ukraine and other countries.

Scholarship students study in Ukrainian. They first take a free preparatory year (a year of Ukrainian before your degree), with no allowance during that year.

Ask your own country's education ministry whether it has an education agreement with Ukraine.

From the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MESU), for citizens of partner countries.

The scholarship does not pay for getting your school papers accepted in Ukraine, insurance, visa, travel or the residence permit.

How the state scholarship works

For students from partner countries.

By 15 December

Ukraine's step: it tells partner countries about places, rules and papers.

By 31 March

Partner countries' step: they send their chosen candidates.

By 1 August

Ukraine's step: the education ministry announces the final decisions.

Papers

Passport copy, school certificate or degree with marks, a letter on why you want to study, a research plan (PhD only) and the application form. All translated into Ukrainian.
