Application Tips

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Even qualified applicants can face rejection due to application errors. Be aware of these common mistakes to increase your chances.

Late translations

Papers not in English need a translation by an approved translator (a sworn translation). They often also need an apostille (an official stamp that proves a paper is real). This takes time.

Missing the first round

Some courses, like medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), have two rounds. Places can be fewer later.

Deferring your place

At AUTH medicine, a place cannot be moved to a later year, even for visa delays.

Leaving the visa too late

The national visa (type D) for studies can take up to three months.
