Documents for Malaysian University Applications
The papers you need to apply to a Malaysian university, and later for your Student Pass (the permit that lets you study in Malaysia). EMGS (Education Malaysia Global Services) handles the pass. Each university lists its own papers, so check its page too.
Your papers fall into four groups.
Study records
Mark sheets and certificates, certified as true copies.
Identity
Passport and photo.
English
A test result your university accepts.
Health
A health form, and a medical check after you arrive.
These show what you have studied and how well you did.
- Send certified copies.
- A certified copy carries a stamp or seal and the signature of the person who certified it.
- EMGS accepts IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, MUET and Cambridge English, among others.
- Your university sets the score you need.
Important Note
These come after your offer, for your Student Pass.
- 750 Malaysian ringgit (MYR) for students from India and from Pakistan, paid to your university.
- You get it back when you finish or leave your studies, if you broke no immigration rules.
- Filled in for your EMGS application.
- Only if you move from another Malaysian university: a letter from your old university letting you go, and proof that your old visa was cancelled.
Universities and EMGS want copies they can trust.
For Students From India and Pakistan
- Signed and stamped as a true copy by the office that gave you the original, or by a notary (a person the law lets sign copies as true).
- Each copy carries a stamp or seal and a signature.
- A full English translation for any paper not in English or Malay.
- Taylor's asks for the original and the translation together.
