1
Choose programmes

Find English-taught programmes and check each one's rules and dates.

Key Considerations

  • Some programmes start in February as well as October.

Pro Tip

Study in Poland is a website that lists programmes. You still apply on each university's own site.

2
Make your papers official

India: apostille stamp (shows your paper is real). Pakistan: attestation stamp from Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

Key Considerations

  • Keep the originals safe.

Pro Tip

Do this before you ask the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) for your letter.

3
Get your NAWA letter

Apply to NAWA for a recognition statement (a free NAWA letter that says your diploma or school certificate counts in Poland).

Key Considerations

  • It can take 90 days or more.

Pro Tip

It is free.

4
Register and pay

Create one account in the university's online system, upload papers and pay PLN 85 to PLN 100 per programme.

Key Considerations

  • Bachelor's: take the entrance exam if asked.

Pro Tip

Use your name as it appears in your passport.

5
Pay tuition

Once the university says you may continue, pay the first part of the tuition fee.

Key Considerations

  • Read the refund rules first.

Pro Tip

Your visa file needs the receipt.

6
Apply for your visa

Use your admission letter to apply for a study visa for Poland (called a type D visa).

Key Considerations

  • Book on e-Konsulat (Poland's official visa booking website).

Troubleshooting

Common Issues & Solutions

Most problems come from missing papers or late official checks.

Common problems
Problems students from India and Pakistan often meet.

No NAWA letter yet

Indian and Pakistani diplomas need a recognition statement: a free letter from NAWA, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, that says your diploma counts in Poland. You need it for final admission.

Solution:

Apply in SYRENA (NAWA's online application system) as early as you can.

English certificate not on the list

Polish law asks for English at B2 or higher, from a test on Poland's list of approved English tests.

Solution:

Use an approved test, such as IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72 or PTE Academic 59, or a higher score if your programme asks.

Papers not made official

Universities ask for official checks on foreign diplomas.

Solution:

India: get an apostille (a government stamp that makes a paper valid in other countries). Pakistan: get an attestation (a similar stamp) from Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
