Student Housing in Sweden

Several big universities offer housing to students from outside the European Union (EU) who pay tuition. Here is what KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Uppsala University, Lund University and Chalmers University of Technology (Chalmers) offer, with rents in Swedish krona (SEK).

Housing Options

University housing, student housing companies and private rooms are the main choices.

Charged by LU Accommodation when you accept a room.

Location Considerations

  • Live nearby

In Lund, many students also live in Malmö or Helsingborg and take the train or bus.

  • Rent in Lund

Housing in Lund costs about SEK 4,000 to 8,000 a month, from Lund University's student budget.

  • Rent in Stockholm

Three KTH students paid SEK 3,800 to 8,200 a month for rent in 2026, from a corridor room to a KTH Housing room.

Housing Tips

Apply to several housing companies, not just one.

Sort out housing before you arrive, as many students search at the same time.

Pay your tuition fee on time. Uppsala's guarantee depends on it.
