Pro Tips:
Keep your passport with the long-stay visa (D-visa), your admission letter, your insurance and your bank statements in your hand luggage. You need them for your residence permit (the card that lets you live in Estonia).

Final Pre-Departure Preparation

You have your admission and your D-visa. Use this list to check the last things before you fly to Estonia.

Why This Checklist Is Essential

  • Missing papers can delay your residence permit.
  • Applying for a permit does not give you the right to stay, so keep your D-visa valid.

When To Complete This Checklist

  • After your D-visa is issued: Book your flight.
  • Before you fly: Book your PPA appointment early if your studies last more than a year. You can book up to three months ahead.
  • In your first week: Go to your PPA appointment and hand in your residence permit papers.

One tab at a time

Go through each tab and tick things off.

Originals with you

Book your permit appointment early

The Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) gives your residence permit. You can book an appointment up to three months ahead.
